Tracking important metrics is crucial to monitoring progress and for ensuring equitable student outcomes. In addition, these metrics become part of reports that may be helpful to support schools in their implementation and differentiation of support for students.

Schools implementing FRNYC are required to enter data for all five components of the program. Schools may assign this data reporting role to a staff member designated by the Principal.

OSP will centrally track and monitor data provided on behalf of participating schools, pathway programs, and students on an ongoing basis throughout the school year.

For more information, please reference the Data and Reporting Requirements Timeline.

Career Connected Instruction

Schools are required to submit program course sequences (i.e., course codes, course titles, credits assigned) and enroll students using the STARS Admin Pathways Program Manager.

  • For guidance on how to submit sequences please review the STARS Wiki
  • To confirm the course sequence by CIP code use custom report (pm.07). To confirm student enrollment in a pathway course sequence use custom report (pm.04)

Actions for schools to complete:

  • Principal Designee/Programmer to submit course sequence using the STARS Admin Pathways Program Manager by October 27, 2023
  • Principal Designee/Programmer to enroll students into the sequence, once approved by OSP, by November 17, 2023
Early College Credit and Credentials of Value

Schools are required to accurately code all early college credits using the STARS Admin Pathways Program Manager and follow updated programming policy guidance for College Courses for Dual High School and College Credit.

  • Conditional on NYCPS pathway approval, applicable courses could be dual credit/enrollment (including CN), advanced placement (AP), or international baccalaureate (IB) courses
  • Credentials of Value must be included in the technical assessments section of your course sequence (guidance on tracking credentials to be provided by the Fall)

Actions for schools to complete:

  • Designated staff to set up CN course titles and course codes following academic policy guidance in STARS and submit course sequences in STARS Admin Pathways Program Manager by October 27, 2023
  • Designated staff to include Credentials of Value in CCI course sequences and submit in the STARS Admin Pathways Program Manager by October 27, 2023
Work-Based Learning

All NYCPS-paid work-based learning experiences will be tracked and monitored using the following systems:

  • Career Pathways Portal (CPP): This is the main online management system that schools will use for students to participate in paid WBL experiences. CPP serves as both an internship data management and a payroll system
  • STARS Admin College and Career Planning (CCP) Tracker: All FRNYC programs (including schools implementing FRNYC and CRMYA) must also enter all paid and unpaid WBL experiences into the experiences section of CCP using the bulk update feature of the STARS Client to enter experiences for student groups

Actions for schools to complete:

  • The school should have at least two staff members trained to use CPP by September 2023
  • School should ensure all FRNYC students create individual profiles in CPP starting in 9th grade by October 31, 2023
  • Designated staff to enter all paid and unpaid WBL experiences in CPP for FRNYC+CTE programs (ongoing basis)

Note: FRNYC+CTE schools that will ultimately seek NYSED CTE Program Approval must enter all paid and unpaid experiences in CPP. This will be used for NYSED approval reporting requirements that include supporting documentation that must be uploaded into CPP, such as student's employability profile, training plan, and employer evaluations.

Individualized Advising

High school counselors and other staff functioning in the role of college and career advisor should use the College and Career Planning Tracker (CCP) to document and monitor student progress through specific milestones toward graduating with a strong plan.

Actions for schools to complete:

  • Counselors and staff in the role of college and career advisor should document milestones in the College and Career Planning Tracker for students in grades 9-12 (ongoing basis)
Financial Literacy

During SY23-24, some FRNYC schools will pilot financial literacy instructional modules embedded in FRNYC courses. CTE-dedicated schools and/or schools implementing NYSED approved CTE programs will continue to offer the career and financial management course.

Further instructions on data requirements and monitoring will be provided for SY24-25.

Note: Additional details on data tracking can be found in the FRNYC Overview & Application.
